Over 1 Million Brits Turn to Vaping to Quit Smoking

Electronic Cigarette

According to the latest data, there are fewer Brits smoking tobacco products today compared to when the numbers were first counted back in 1974.

In addition, the number of UK adults who use electronic cigarettes or vaping products has dramatically risen over the past few years.

In 2015, only 17.2% of UK adults are smoking tobacco products compared to 20.1% in 2010.

While the number of adults in Scotland, Ireland, and Wales who are smoking is higher than the average, their numbers have been dropping faster than the rest of the UK.

The number of smokers has been further reduced over the last few years due to the rise of electronic cigarettes and vaping.

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE VAPES

In England, Scotland, and Wales, about 2.3 million adults are now a part of the vape culture, using e-cig products and vaping devices.

About 2.6 million have tried e-cig products and about 4 million have stated that they used to use vaping devices and e-cigarettes, and many have used them to give up smoking altogether.

Given the strength of the figures, it’s not surprising that many believe that electronic cigarettes are playing a major role in helping people kick the habit of tobacco products.

You can learn more about how you can quit smoking with electronic cigarettes here.

While the campaign to quit smoking using e-cigs has been controversial in nature, it is backed up by studies that show more people believe that vaping is a valid way to stop smoking in general.

What’s also interesting is that 14.4% who continue to smoke tobacco products are also vaping.

Whether they will continue to do both in the same numbers is unknown, but the reason may be that with tobacco smoking banned in most public places, vaping provides an effective alternative.

With cigarette consumption on a downward trend, it should be noted that the age group that has the most smokers is from 25 to 34 where 23% are currently using tobacco cigarettes.

However, 18 to 23-year-olds have shown the biggest decline, dropping almost 5% in the past five years down to 20.7%.

If we have fewer smokers in the future this may impact vapor products since there will be fewer people wanting to quit smoking.

CONCLUSION

The overall decline in tobacco smoking in the youngest generation of adults is a promising turn when it comes to their overall health.

The scale in which the role of electronic cigarettes and vaping plays in reducing that number is not fully known, but there is convincing evidence to suggest that it is having an impact.

The health benefits of using vapor products can’t be ignored as these products provide a much safer alternative to smoking.  for harm reduction and may save you from developing tobacco-related illnesses in the future.

The more Brits that continue to turn to electronic cigarettes to help with harm reduction, the more likely it is that fewer Brits will suffer from tobacco-related illnesses in the future, which is a good thing for our health and our NHS.
