Uwell Crown 2 Review

Uwell Crown 2 Tank

The sequel to the highly regarded Crown tank, the Uwell Crown 2 comes with tons of expectations on whether it exceeds, or at least matches, the performance of the original.

A sub-ohm tank designed for beginners, advanced vapers are also attracted to the sleek looks and seemingly untouchable reputation of the Crown.

Is the Crown 2 worthy of the same praises of the original? Or does it flop like most sequels do?

WHY THIS TANK SUCKS

Unlike the original Crown, the Crown 2 is sleeker and much more attractive.

It’s also much easier to refill g the Crown 2 is extremely easy. You have the choice to top or bottom fill the tank, but I’ve only used the top-fill method.

The capacity of the crown is pretty good at 4ml and I haven’t had any leaking issues with it.

As good as this is all sounding, this is where it all goes pear-shaped.

While the vape is smooth, the flavor coming form the coils is awful.

I’ve tried several coils just to make sure it wasn’t just a bad batch I had, but the foul taste mainly on the exhale is there every time I vape. Even with different flavors.

I thought it might be the juice, so I swapped this too to no avail – the after taste was still there.

Though I can’t pinpoint the exact reason for this as it’s not obvious what has changed since the original came out. It has to be either the metal in the coils or the cotton.

On top of this, I found that the coils can be a pain to get screw in and come in contact with the base, which can cause leaks and misfires. These are huge pitfalls that I couldn’t ignore when writing this review.

It is a bit of a shame to have to give such bad news following their more successful predecessor, but that’s all I can give from my experience.

DISLIKES

  • Terrible Flavor – Despite using several coils over the course of this review, I have found the taste to be terrible. I tried different e-liquids and multiple coils, but they all tasted bad
  • Coil Seating – The coils are hard to make contact with the base resulting in misfires and leaks. Two negatives that impact the overall vape experience significantly

LIKES

  • Top and bottom fill – The option to go either/or gives you a degree of flexibility when it comes to refilling
  • Airflow – The airflow is very good, giving a smooth vape
  • Spare Tank – The inclusion of a spare tank means you don’t have to baby your tank too much while in use
  • Capacity – With a very good 4ml capacity, you don’t have to refill that often
  • Uses 510 Drip tips – The decision to use 510 drip tips means you can use your favorite ones without having to use an adapter
  • Large Fill Holes – Large, easy to fill holes mean less fiddling around when refilling
  • Affordable – The price tag makes the Crown 2 a decent purchase. If you like it, it’s worth it, if you hate it, at least you won’t lose much financially

SHOULD YOU GET THE CROWN 2

The original Crown was a very good sub-ohm tank, and despite the minor leaking issues I had with it, I can still recommend it to others. It was a great tank.

The Crown 2, however, does not live up to expectations and I can honestly say that this is a bad tank all around.

Just about all vaping products have their good and bad points, but in this case the cons far outweigh the pros for me.

I know that a lot of the reviews from other customers have been neutral to positive, so you may not want to dismiss it completely, but I have share my personal experience, which sadly wasn’t great.

Due to this it’s not a tank I can personally recommend.
