LAVATUBE 3 DEVICE
There aren’t quite as many aesthetic choices as some other MODs offer, but where the Lavatube 3 truly stands out is in its customization options during use.
The variable voltage, variable wattage device (powered by the Evolv DNA 40 chip) allows you to totally personalize your vape.
You can adjust the wattage from 1-40 watts and 1-9 volts or you can take it a step further and adjust the temperature control from 200-600 degrees Fahrenheit.
You’ll use plus and minus buttons to make the adjustments, and view the changes on a nicely sized OLED screen showing you temperature, wattage, voltage, battery life, atomizer resistance, etc.
For such an advanced device, it’s pleasantly easy to operate (press the center button once to fire). It’s also really easy to hold and use.
The aluminum construction translates to a lighter weight that lacks the bulky feel you might get from similar MODs, despite being fairly large in size (124mm height, 26mm diameter).

ONE TUBE TANK PRO KIT
The Tube Tank Pro is a sub-ohm tank designed specifically for the Lavatube 3.
Carrying on the personalisation-friendly trend of the Lavatube 3, it features adjustable airflow so you can adjust the draw to your preference.
The Tube Tank Pro, which has a 5ml e-liquids capacity, comes with three 0.5 ohm kanthal coils, which offer an incredibly low-resistance vaping experience.
It’s also compatible with 0.25 ohm nickel coils.
You shouldn’t need to stress about breakage, but if an accident happens, swap out your glass tank for the included replacement.
The kit also includes replacement o-rings in case you need them.
DISPLAY
The OLED display screen is a good size, and the DNA 40 chip sets this MOD makes adjusting your settings super easy.
However, there is a negative with this screen I’m afraid. I found it hard to see the display due to it being tinted, especially outside or where there’s a lot of sun.
It seems such a shame to have a high quality DNA 40 chip installed on a device where the screen is barely visible in certain conditions.
In most cases, you’ll have no problems reading this indoors as long as the room isn’t permeated with sunlight.
But outside, you may have to cover the display similar to how you might cover a cigarette in the rain to light it just to work out what your settings are.
If you’re familiar with other devices that use the DNA chip you’ll notice that the screen layout is different on the LAVATUBE 3.0.
I can confirm that we did check the chip and it is an authentic DNA chip inside. They’ve just used a different screen layout.
BUTTON LAYOUT
Another thing I didn’t really get on with is the button layout.
There were quite a few occasions where I’d go to press the firing button and hit the plus or minus instead.
This is partly due to the buttons being close to each other and there being no obvious feature to know where the firing button is without looking at it every time you fire it.
If Volcano intend to keep this button layout in future versions of the Lavatube I’d suggest adding a little bump on either the firing button or the plus and negative buttons.
Something similar to what you get on the “F” and “J” letters of a computer keyboard. This would make missing the firing button much less of a problem.
BATTERY DETAILS
This Lavacell 18650 battery packs an incredible 2800mAh of power, which, particularly when combined with the low-resistance atomizer, makes for a vape that can get every bit as powerful as you need it and still be capable of going higher.
The kit also includes two charging options: one micro-USB cable and one wall adapter. It has a long charge (specific charge times vary based on use).
You’ll also get a 15ml bottle of e-liquid – A lot of kits that include e-liquid just offer standard tobacco and menthol blends, but for this one, you have plenty of options.
Browse through the flavors, then decide how strong you want it and choose one of four nicotine contents, ranging from 0-24mg.
VAPOR PRODUCTION
Low resistance + high power is a recipe for a vape that makes you feel like you’re surrounded by a fog machine when you exhale.
Of course, the vapor volume depends on where you have the device settings at any given time, so we’ll leave it at saying that it’s capable of quite a lot.

The full kit retails for £149.00, which isn’t cheap so you should be sure you want it before you buy.
There are a lot of other MODs available in today’s market, many of which pump out much higher wattage for less moneys, so I would find it hard to justify spending this much money on a MOD that reaches 40 watts.
Having sad this, it is a good quality device. If you don’t mind digging deep for something that’s stylish and offers a reasonable amount of power then I think you’ll enjoy vaping with this.

As is the case with most companies that offer non-resell-able products, Volcano’s 6-month warranty is limited. It does not cover the tanks, heating elements, or liquids, and won’t accept returned products that have been damaged by abuse or negligence.

You’ll mail it back with an RMA form, the Volcano team will conduct tests to assess whether it’s eligible for replacement, and if it is, they will mail you a new one.
SHOULD YOU GET THE LAVATUBE 3.0?
Since the Lavatube is (A) fairly new and (B) expensive, it stands to reason that there aren’t too many customer reviews at this time.
However, for what it’s worth, all reviews that do exist are completely positive.
As long as you’re prepared to make the investment, this high quality device is a lot of pros and very few cons.
If you’re looking to take your vaping to the next level, the Lavatube 3 Starter Kit is definitely an option to consider, but I have tell you that £150 really can go a long way if you were to look elsewhere.
