With more and more people making the switch from traditional smokes to the electronic cigarette, the market has become flooded with all kinds of different starter kits.
Today, I’m going to take a look at the Vype eStick Starter Kit to let you know if it’s one worth shelling out on.
PACKAGING & DESIGN
While the majority of e-cigarette makers tend to go for a design that makes their kit look like a cigarette pack, Vype have opted to go another route.
Their starter kit looks more like an over-sized Zippo lighter, with a clear flip top giving access to the tips and the battery.
The case comes in a nice looking black, and while it is sturdy, it will fit easily into any pocket or purse.
KIT CONTENTS
- 1 x Charge Pack
- 3 x Vype eStick Tips (Blended Tobacco Flavor)
- 1 x Micro USB Charging Cable
- 1 x Rechargeable E-cigarette Battery
- 1 x User Guide
VAPOUR PRODUCTION
This really all depends on what you are looking for out of your E-Cig. If you are looking for flavor and a good throat hit, you will likely be satisfied with what the eStick delivers.
If, on the other hand, you want to blow out massive plumes of vapor, you may find it a little underwhelming.
FUNCTIONALITY
Using the Vype eStick to vape is incredibly easy, and is as simple as screwing the cartomizer and battery together.
You may have to suck on the tip a few times to get the vapor really flowing, so just bear that in mind when you start out.
CARTOMISERS
Your Vype eStick starter kit comes with 3 tips of the blended tobacco flavor.
All told, you get the equivalent of about 600 cigarette puffs from those 3 tips, so try to gauge how long that will last you so that you don’t run out of replacements.
Replacement packs run around the £6 mark, with each pack containing 4 tips. There are 7 different flavors to choose from, as Ill as a variety pack that offers up a mix.
The variety pack is a good way to go if you are unsure what flavor profile you prefer.
While there are a few flavors to choose from, you will be limited to one nicotine strength – 36mg/ml. This is pretty high.
Higher than I started on and higher than a lot of people will probably need I dare say.
I do not know why there is no option to opt for a lower nicotine strength cartomizer to cater for light and heavy smokers. It’s quite bizarre.
This nicotine strength was too high for me, so I’d find myself only taking a couple of puffs every-so-often just to test it for the review.
If you’re a heavy smoker, you will probably find this strength sufficient. And if you smoke moderately it may be okay for you if you just take a few puffs every now and then, but you may find the nicotine is a little too much for you.
I certainly would not recommend trying this if you’re an social or infrequent vaper or smoker.
BATTERY DETAILS
Vype have gone out of their way to make their e-cigs look as close to the real thing as possible, and they have done a fantastic job of that.
The size and Iight of the battery will certainly make it feel as though you are holding an actual cigarette.
You get one rechargeable battery with your Vype eStick starter kit, and while Vype claim you’ll get up to 5 days of use on a single charge, actual length will depend on your vaping habits.
I recommend putting the battery back in the charger after every use, as this will help ensure you have a full charge at all times.
The 4 lights on the base of the carrying pack will indicate the level of charge.
PRICE & SHIPPING CHARGES
It’s not the most expensive kit at just £9.99, and I have to say that I think it’s worth the money.
Shipping will cost you an extra £2.99 if you opt for standard shipping, which isn’t bad either.
If you’d like to get it delivered next day then it will cost you £4.99. Again, not bad at all!
WARRANTY & GUARANTEE
Unfortunately Vype do not offer any guarantee on their products other than your legal right to return it for a refund within 14 days if you change your mind.
This is a real shame since most of you that may be considering buying this may have never used an e-cig before, and if you decide you don’t like it, you’ll be stuck with it.
Having said this, most people that have bought and reviewed it have given it positive reviews. But nobody can review whether a product is a going to work for you if you’ve never used an e-cig before.
With the cost of this kit being comparably low to other kits available it’s probably a better option if you just wanted to test the water.

SHOULD YOU GET THE ESTICK?
At just £9.99, the Vype eStick is an excellent low-cost option if you’re looking to make the switch from traditional smokes to electronic cigarettes.
The size and feel of the eStick is great, and while it wasn’t something that took my interest, the carrying case is pretty stylish if this is your kinda thing.
All of that said, there are some negatives to consider, starting with the inability to purchase tips of varying nicotine levels.
Depending on what your vaping plans are for the future this could be a bit of a con since you may wish to reduce your dependency on nicotine by lowering the nicotine content over time.
While the battery has been pretty good in my time using it, I’ve only tested it over a 4 week period, so there is a chance it may deteriorate over time.
When a kit includes a single battery I always recommend getting a back-up in case it malfunctions.
The last thing you want is to run out of battery since you’ll have to wait for the charge and may crave nicotine during the charge.
These types of scenarios are what cause many vapers to revert back to smoking, and you want to avoid this at all costs.
Other than this, it’s a pretty good option if you’re new to vaping.
