If you regularly read my reviews, you will already know that I am a big fan of the Wismec Reuleaux RX200 box mod.
You will also know that one of the complaints that many users had was that the device was a little too much on the heavy side to be considered a true portable.
Much of the weight issue was down to the batteries, and it appears that Wismec have paid attention to owners of the RX200 and RX200S who wanted the efficiency of these devices without all the weight.
The latest release from Wismec in the Reuleaux series is the RX2/3, and it’s a beauty.
There is a reason for the use of that particular name, and it has to do with the batteries and the weight.
We will get to that a little later, but for now, let’s take a closer look at the Reuleaux RX2/3.
PACKAGING & DESIGN
The packaging of this unit is virtually the same as the RX200 and RX200S, which is to say that it is a black box with a silver etching of the device contained inside.
The black and silver combination is very nice indeed, and I think it adds a little touch of class, which is actually quite fitting for this device.
Once opened, you will find that the kit is nicely laid out inside. You get the box mod, a USB cable, and the instruction manual, which I recommend that you read in order to get the most out of the MOD.
What makes this device stand out from other box mods, and especially from the RX200S, is the ability to change out the battery set-up.
We will get into that a little more in the battery section, but I’ll just say that being able to go with 2 batteries instead of 3 makes this device much more lightweight, portable and easy to hold in your hand.
I should add that my unit came with a little scratch.
Quality control seemed to be something that was problematic with the RX200 and the S version.
Admittedly this was only a minor inconvenience for me when I took everything else into account.

FUNCTIONALITY
I know I have been teasing the battery set-up, and I promise that more on that is coming, but we have to mention it again here when talking about functionality.
As mentioned earlier, you can run the RX2/3 on either a 2- or 3-battery set-up, but the decision you make has an impact on the maximum wattage you can operate the device.
With all 3 batteries in place, you get up to 200W, while you only get a maximum of 150W when using the dual battery set-up.
The latter is usually more than enough for most, and is forgivable when you see how much easier this device is to carry around with just 2 batteries in place.
The good news with this is that you don’t need to fiddle about with the settings in order to set the maximum wattage.
This unit has the same intelligent chip-set featured in the RX200S, which means it does a lot of the heavy lifting for you.
All of this is moot if you run the box mod in TC mode, as the wattage only mode is not a factor at that point.
If you plan on running in TC mode at temperatures up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit make sure that you are using TC coils.
This unit can handle all kinds of different coil materials, including stainless steel, Ni200, and Titanium, so no worries there.
Just don’t mix and match coils and modes, as this will not bode well for your coils.
You can go all the way down to 0.05 ohms without any real effort.
Controlling wattage and temperatures, as well as all the other controls, is very easy to do once in the main menu.
OLED DISPLAY
The RX2/3 comes with an easy to read 0.96-inch screen that is tinted to prevent glare. The display works like a charm indoors but is a little less effective outside, especially in bright sunlight.
For me, this isn’t a big deal as I rarely change my settings, but if you like to change yours regularly this can be a little frustrating at times.
The display will come on by using the 5-click method with the fire button. The controls and menu take a minute to get used to, but once you’ve mastered it, you can be up and running at your desired settings in no time at all.
BATTERY DETAILS
The teasing is finally over, and it’s now time to talk about the brilliant battery set-up employed by the RX2/3.
It comes with a pair of different battery doors that are easily added and removed as needed.
The door for the 3 battery set-up has a space for the third 18650 battery, and when added, takes the box mod up to the same size as the RX200S.
When you use the door for the 2-battery set-up, it’s almost as though you have shaved a piece of the device off the back.
You will immediately feel the weight difference in your hand, and realise that this is a truly portable unit now.
I tend to use it with the 2-battery set-up most of the time i’m out and about, and absolutely love it.

SHOULD YOU GET THE RX2/3?
If I’m being honest, I had to get a little nit-picky in order to find some real cons with this device.
That said, I was disappointed in the quality control, as a new unit should not come with a scratch.
These minor issues are almost instantly forgotten once you power up this device and start vaping, though.
It’s essentially the same set-up as the RX200S, but the ability to use 2 batteries instead of 3 means that you won’t be looking for a smaller unit to carry with you when you are out an about.
This one is a unit that I have used regularly since getting it about 2 months ago and I can see myself using it regularly in time to come.
Worth every penny!
