If you’re already a fan of the Cool Fire IV 100 then you may be in for a treat. In this review, we’re going to take a closer look at this 18650 version. Overall I prefer the 18650 to the 100 for a few reasons, even though it does have some drawbacks. I’ll get into all of this in much more detail throughout the review… PACKAGING & DESIGN This 75W box mod comes in 4 sleek colors, red, blue, black and silver. The shape of the mod is tapered which helps this sleek mod fit well in the hands. The brush steel gives it a modern flare and helps keep your device fingerprint free. A common gripe about this design is that not all tanks will sit flush on top of the box mod; although this is more aesthetic appeal over function. It’s something that doesn’t bother me too much, but it might be a deal breaker for you. On the side you will see a decently sized OLED screen as well as the power and adjustment buttons. The screen is larger than former Cool Fire models with a bright easy-to-read display. The buttons are somewhat small under the fingers, and tend to make a loud clicking noise, something I don’t really get on with, but it does have a sturdy feel to it. An instruction manual on the operations of this Innokin as well as battery safety instructions are also included to help you really learn the ins and outs of the mod. The Cool fire Innokin is sold in two sets. The complete kit comes with the unit, a tank as well as a rubber sleeve for an extra battery. Although the traveler’s kit does not come with the tank, it includes a carrying case, and a battery checker. The ability to sub ohm and the option for temperature controlled vaping are both available with this MOD. The temperature setting works with Nickle, Titanium and stainless steel coils – just be sure to use the right settings with the right coils if you’re new to Temp Control. The integrated AETHON chip and mechanics include a safety feature preventing you from overworking the battery or burning out your coil. The OLED screen is bright and crisp showing everything you need to know about your Cool fire mod ranging from wattage and volts to ohms and battery life. To change your settings tap the arrow buttons at the bottom to achieve vaping bliss. The watts are adjusted in increments of 5, although holding the buttons down can make it shift at a faster rate. Holding the (-) and the power button down at the same time will allow you to switch between the various temperature coil modes. When in that setting, the AETHON chip in the unit will prevent the coil from overheating or causing any damage to your Innokin. BATTERY DETAILS This mod operates on a single 18650 battery. The port for the battery is on the bottom of the unit with a locking door, and it's pretty easy to use. While a single 18650 battery can be suitable for you if you’re a moderate vaper, you may find the need to carry an extra battery or two if you vape regularly throughout the day any higher than 40 watts. Unfortunately there is no micro USB port for charging. This means that you will need to have a separate battery charger as well as an extra battery or two, which does unfortunately mean an extra expense if you don’t already own one. You can find 18650 battery charges on Amazon for around £15.00 - £20.00. DISLIKES No micro usb charging port, so you have to use a separate battery charger. While getting a free tank is convenient and nice, it has a very tight airflow and not for everyone. Thankfully, the tank can be swapped out for a different one. No real “locking” function makes it a pain to operate. You have to wait a few moments after pressing the button for it to start to function. Annoying if you ask me! Changing the settings can be a bit cumbersome, there is a slight pause before it will adjust. While it isn’t too bad if you “set and forget”, if you’re constantly adjusting your settings you might find this annoying and tiring – I did! The buttons can be a touch small under larger fingers and the power button is somewhat noisy when you press it. LIKES Comes complete with a tank and two coils Fits nicely in your hands and has a cool and stylish design Temperature Control Sensing mechanism helps prevent dry hits SHOULD YOU GET THE COOL FIRE IV TC? Innokin put some good things into their Cool Fire V and many are singing its praises. Being a complete set, with very nice features for a reasonable price, this mod is a good choice for vapers of any experience. There are a few drawbacks that would make this a MOD I would personally avoid, but some are subjective and may not bother you so much. If you’re looking for a good mid-grade vape, the Innokin Cool Fire wouldn’t a terrible choice, but I’d certainly suggest looking at a few others in this range first!
