Product Review Disclaimer If you're already a Vaporesso fan, you may be happy to hear that they've finally designed a high-powered mod that's capable of outputting up to 220w of power. They call it the Revenger. While I'm not entirely sure what exactly it's revenging, what I can tell you is that it's a worthy contender of some of the high power mods currently on the market. Most people will likely compare it to the Alien and Predator due to the similarities in its design and size. I should point out that this review will be of the mod only. I'll be reviewing the TPD compliant NRG Mini Tank separately. Let's get down to the nitty-gritty of this device and see what it has to offer, shall we? I honestly felt like I did when I was a child on Christmas day opening a present that I couldn't wait to get yet knew I was getting. But, why? It's just another mod! Sure, it is just another mod. But the beautiful, sleek design grabbed me when I first saw it, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Now, as excited as I was, the first thing I did notice when I held it is that it's one heck of a finger print magnet. More so than most other mods I've owned. But this didn't bother me much since it was easy to clean. This is obviously down to the aluminium alloy finish used by Vaporesso, and while the mod does look great, do be prepared to give it a good regular clean, especially if you have an OCD for this. After using the mod for a couple of weeks, I can tell you that the paint job is excellent. It does not flake off like it does on some of the other mods like the RX2/3. The ergonomics are up there with the Alien (its dimensions are very similar to the Alien, but the Revenger is slightly taller). The overall feel of the Revenger to me isn't as premium as some of my other mods, but it still feels nice and doesn't exactly feel cheap. if you give the One thing I did notice, though, is that if you give the Revenger a bit of a shake, you do get a tiny bit of rattle. You really do have to shake it to hear it. It didn't rattle while I was using it regularly. This minor rattle isn't a deal breaker for me, but it's something Vaporesso could definitely improve on to set this up there with some of the more premium high-powered mods. One thing it does have over the Wismec Predator is that the 510 pin sits in nice and snug. After giving it a good tug, I can confirm that I was unable to pull 510 out of it. I have noticed that there is a very slight gap between the tank and the mod, but only about a millimetre. It doesn't bother me, and it isn't easily noticeable, but it has to be mentioned. Vaporesso did do something brilliant with the 510 - they positioned it in the center of the device. Something I wish a lot of other companies would do with their mods. Even the RX300, a quadruple 18650 battery mod didn't receive this feature! Having the 510 in the center does mean you'll be able to get a tank up to 28mm to sit on there without overhang, and tanks look pretty darn good on it. The OLED screen is a nice size too, coming in at 0.96 inches. I'll get into a little more detail about the screen and menu system in the next section... FUNCTIONALITY If you're familiar with the OMNI board in Vaporesso's previous devices, you should find your way around the Revenger farily easily since most of the functions are the same. Some of the main differences are the Smart Charge feature that Vaporesso claim will charge your device 50% faster, and the fact that you can now change the wattage in TC mode. The fast charging may sound all well and good on the surface, but you should keep in mind that if you use this feature you may shorten the lifespan of your 18650 batteries. For this reason, I'd still recommend using an external charger where possible. You can pick them up for a reasonable price on Amazon. There are a lot of functions with the Revenger's new OMNI board 2.0, which you'll be able to access by pressing and holding the 'mode' button (this is the center button under the screen). This brings you to the options where you'll find the System Settings, VW, TC (Ni/SS/Ti), M1, M2 and, finally, the Bypass mode. Here's a breakdown of what each one means in case you're not familiar with these abbreviations: VW Mode: This allows you to select the strength of your draw from three different settings. VT Mods: This allows you to adjust the wattage while you're in temperature control mode. TC: Temperature Control can be set to either Celcius or Fahrenheit, and changes in increments of 10 for °F and 5 for °C. M1 / M2 Modes: These modes give you the option to use the user-defined TCR curve. Bypass Mode: This will allow your mod to operate as though it is a mechanical mod. While there are a lot of features, the menu system can be a little confusing to use at first if you're not already familiar with the board, and it's is a little tedious at times when you need to toggle your way around. For example, if you want to change the wattage in temp control mode, you'll have to go through a grand total of six steps. And here they are: First, you'll have to hard press the mode button five times until you get to System Settings Next, click three times to get into VT mode and hard press the option Now you have to set the wattage to your preferences Once you've done that, hard press again to go back to the Systems Settings menu options Next, scroll down to exit and hard press to select it And now you simply need to keep hard pressing until you get back to the correct TC mode, which will be anything from 2 - 4 hard presses, depending on what wire you're using Bit of a ball ache? Yes. Now, the Revenger is firmware upgrade-able, but I doubt we'll see this improved. But, hey, you never know! But, hey, who knows...we might just get lucky! If you don't use TC mode, the rest of the menu fairly easy to navigate. Hint, hint, Vaporesso! Finally, you'll find most of the vital information you need on the large OLED screen. This includes the wattage or temperature and wattage you're at if you use TC, the dual battery indicators, the resistance, voltage and timed puff feature. NOTABLE REMARKS Okay, so you already know that the thing I really love about this mod is the design. It just looks so sleek. The aesthetics are also a massive pro for me. It's not going to be for everyone, but these new Alien-like mods have grown on me and feel really nice to hold. Also, the position of the firing button works really well, and it's nice and clicky. WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR The main thing to be aware of with the Revenger is the tedious menu system when you need to change the wattage in TC mode. It won't be an issue if you don't vape in TC mode, and nor will be much of an issue if you tend to stick to the same wattage while using temp control. DISLIKES While the menu system is fairly easy to navigate, changing the wattage in TC mode is tedious. Very small (and we mean small) gap between atty and mod. It's about a millimetre. Doesn't feel quite as premium as other mods in its class. Slight rattle when shaken, but not noticeable in everyday use. LIKES Design and aesthetics. Location of the 510 pin. OMNI board 2 gives you the option to change wattage in TC mode, which the previous board didn't. Large, clicky firing button. Comes with a compliant NRG tank. Atomizers up to 28mm sit nice and flush without overhang. Option to get it in red, blue or black. Reasonably priced. SHOULD YOU GET THE REVENGER? Overall, I'm quite impressed with what Vaporesso has done here as they launch their first high-powered mod. While there is a fast charging option via USB, I'd really recommend using an external charger if you have one to help preserve your batteries' longevity. These 18650's don't come cheap!
