Wismec Reuleaux RX200 Box Mod Review

Wismec Reuleaux Rx200 Black

People who vape on a regular basis want the flexibility and temperature control that can only be delivered by a high end mod.

Among the more popular devices in that category are the mods that come with the DNA200 chip, but the downside is that those all tend to be on the expensive end of the price scale.

That all changed when Releaux delivered the RX200 200W Box Mod, as it delivered all the bells and whistles, and at a price that every vaper could afford.

There is a lot to like, and some things to dislike, about this mod, so let’s take a closer look.

PACKAGING & DESIGN

The packaging itself is pretty basic, as the mod comes in a rather plain looking grey box with a stencil outline of the device on the outside. This may actually be intentional, though, as it certainly makes the RX200 pop once you open up said packaging.

The first thing you notice is that this is a mod that looks different from what you are used to. The shape of the device may seem a little off when you first set eyes on it, but as soon as you pick it up, it becomes obvious that there is a little bit of genius in that design, as this is a mod that is very ergonomically pleasing.

It’s a good thing that it fits so well in the hand, because this thing is heavy. That may be a little off-putting for some, but can you really expect anything else when you have a unit that contains 3 batteries.

There are 4 different color options available, and they are black, white, red/black, and white/light blue. I purchased the black unit, and have found that the paint would start to peel after extended use.

This can be avoided by simply investing in a silicon case, which I’d recommend using if you plan on using this as a portable device. You can find them online and they’re not very expensive.

FUNCTIONALITY

This is where the RX200 really shines, as its list of features makes it a highly customizable design makes it a great device for vapers of all shapes and sizes.

The temperature settings ae incredibly easy to control, and run from 200°F – 600°F. The same rules apply when it comes to wattage, which goes from 1-200W.

You can actually move up to 250W if you give your device an available firmware update. Where the RX200 really excels is when it comes to coil selection, as it can easily handle titanium, nickel, stainless steel, and more.

Being able to use your favorite coil with this mod is great, but being able to change things up as needed makes it even better.

If there is a little bit of a downside in regards functionality, it would have to come from the 510 connection that the device employs.

I haven’t experienced any issues myself, but some people have reported that they get the message “atmoiser short” at times.

It seems many of those that had this problem were able to solve it by removing the battery or turning off the device and pressing down on the 510 connection a few times.

It seems some tanks work perfectly with the RX200 while others can be a little hit and miss, even if they work initially.

The good news is that this doesn’t seem to be a widespread issue, but it’s certainly something that some people have had problems with.

OLED DISPLAY

The OLED display is an okay size, admittedly I’d like to have seen it slightly bigger, but it is very easy to read.

The largest part of the display shows the wattage setting unless you switch it to a different temperature control setting. And to the left of that you will see the resistance setting and the battery status.

BATTERY DETAILS

Now this is where the RX200 wins so many hearts. The power is delivered via 3 x 18650 batteries, which pretty much assures you will have all the juice you need, when you need it. And it seems to last forever on around 60-80 watts, which is what I usually vape at.

You can recharge the batteries via a USB charger that is included, but splashing a little extra on a separate battery charger will help you speed up the process. I’d always recommend using a separate battery charger for charging your 18650 batteries as opposed to charging through the device itself.

Getting the batteries in an out is incredibly easy, as the magnetic cover is easy to remove when you have to get the batteries out for charging. The unit will also instantly recognise if the batteries have been placed in wrong, thanks to the reverse polarity protection feature.

DISLIKES

  • A little heavier than most other mods
  • The 510 connection can sometimes prove to be a little tricky
  • Paint will peel on the black unit, but that can be prevented by purchasing a cover

LIKES

  • Ergonomic design makes for a comfortable fit in your hand
  • Can be upgraded to a 250W device by installing updated firmware
  • 3 x 18650 batteries deliver a long charge
  • The ability to use a variety of different coils
  • A wide range of temperature settings means sub-ohm vaping capabilities, or huge plumes of vapor
  • Great price for the much sought after DNA200 chip
  • Polarity protection feature
  • Recharge on the go using the supplied USB cable

SHOULD YOU GET THE RX200?

I have to say that this is one of the best mod purchases that I have ever made. I love the weight of this unit, and how it seems to be perfectly designed for my hand.

The battery life goes far beyond my expectations as is the ability to customise this thing a number of different ways via temperature control settings.

This is almost like having a bunch of different mods in one great design, and all for a fraction of the price. The RX200 gets my highest recommendation and I honestly don’t think you’ll look back if you get one!
